About this Event

Join us on Thursday September 12th to kick off the academic year with our annual Evening for Educators event! This year we are honoring the collaborative spirit between the visual and performing arts. We look forward to celebrating with you and toasting our educators under the incredible artwork by the late Frank Stella in the historic Moores Opera House Lobby.

This professional development event and reception are co-hosted by Public Art of the University of Houston System, Blaffer Art Museum, and Katherine G. McGovern College of the Arts.

Listen, see, and create art that uplifts and inspires by honoring individual and collective storytelling. Connect with colleagues and see how art inspires art through hands-on art making, interactive tours, and music and movement activities.

Euphonia, 1997, in Honor of the artist Frank Stella

Frank Stella

1936 - 2024

“It really makes the space. Frank was totally right about that,” said Beth Robertson, former UH System Regent and philanthropist, who was a friend of Stella…This immersive artwork took months to complete. Robertson said the community involvement with “Euphonia” brought Stella real satisfaction—that it was created to be experienced and shared.”

Blaffer Art Museum

Founded in 1973, the Blaffer Art Museum endeavors to further the understanding of contemporary art through exhibitions, publications, and public programs. As the gateway between the University of Houston’s Central campus and the City of Houston, Blaffer Art Museum is a catalyst for creative innovation, experimentation, and scholarship. Its exhibitions and programs are free and open to the public, create community through dialogue and participation, and inspire an appreciation for the visual arts as a vital force in shaping contemporary culture.
