Evelyn Carter will read from her new book, Was That Racist?: How to Detect, Interrupt, and Unlearn Bias in Everyday Life, and will be joined in conversation by Dr. Kelly Danaher. An attempt to answer the question, "How do we combat racism in a world determined to tell us it doesn’t exist?", Was That Racist? "...practice(s) a new framework for dismantling racial bias in our society, our workplaces, and ourselves: by learning to detect it as well as people of color do" (hachettebookgroup.com). It's praised by Anne Mai Yee Jansen of Book Riot as "the kind of book that is handy to have on your shelves" and by Dena Simmons, founder of LiberatED, who says: "At a time when conversations about race, equity, and belonging are being censored and outlawed, Dr. Evelyn Carter offers us clarity, courage, and the tools we need to unlearn bias and build communities where we all belong."
