About this Event

Welcome to Eve Alfille’s “Taking Chances” Opening event! Join us in person at the Eve J Alfille Gallery & Studio for an afternoonfilled with art, creativity, and inspiration. Eve will introduce her new series “Taking Chances” on Saturday, December 7th with an opening from 1 to 7 p.m. In this new series, Eve delves into the many facets of our need to know the future. She will explore the Zodiac, tarot and other ancient forms of fortune telling.

Inspired by the human desire to foretell the future, Eve is fascinated by this need which goes back to ancient times. Romans sacrificed animals while Assyrians carved stones. Chinese heated bones and Africans threw them to tell the future.

“We try to make sense of the universe..Stars..We see these bright points across the sky and we interpret them as creatures..twins, young women or fish. We believe that when we are born, it makes a difference, under certain constellations we form different characteristics”, states Eve.

In this series, Eve is carving her iconic amulets with the symbols of the zodiac. She created pendants with signs of the Tarot and uses animal symbols to evoke signs from the universe. She also favors star sapphires, rubies, opals, and carved stones to interpret some of the symbols used for these purposes.
