Why Evangelism Matters
When you share the gospel with someone, it is most likely
the last time they will hear an invitation to believe in Jesus.
In the world we live in today, there is no backup, no one coming behind you to spread gospel seed in the ground you missed! This evangelism workshop will help you lead your congregation in discovering their natural style of sharing Jesus, as well as help identify how your church is uniquely structured to advance the gospel. A grant is also offered to help with the expenses and to draw more people.

English Workshop Presenter
Deryl Lackey
Deryl was elected as our Director of Missions effective January 1, 2006. A native Californian, he and his wife Brenda have five daughters, one son, and nineteen grandchildren. Dr. Lackey received his Doctorate in Theology along with a Master of Religious Education from Bethany Bible College and Seminary. Before coming to the Association, he served as Senior pastor of churches in Bakersfield, Lake Isabella, and Upland. He is active in denominational work and is currently on the Board of Directors for The Baptist Foundation of California.

Jonathan De La O
Jonathan se unió a IESBA el 1 de agosto de 2024, como director asociado de misiones. Nació y creció en el sur de California a padres inmigrantes de primera generación de El Salvador. Jonathan pasó los últimos 16 años viviendo y sirviendo en Chicago. Plantó y fue el pastor principal de un ministerio bilingüe llamado Iglesia de la Comunidad de Puntos de partida durante los últimos diez años. El pastor Jonathan recibió su maestría en estudios bíblicos de Wheaton College, una licenciatura en teología y una licenciatura en psicología de la Universidad de Azusa Pacific. We want to bless and empower your church's evangelism.
Each participating church giving to High Desert Baptist Association and Cooperative Program in the last 12 months, who attends the conference will receive a $1,000 evangelism grant.

“We distributed 448 packets with a Gospel tract, church info, and a Fall Festival invitation. Throughout the day, 79 people requested prayer, and 57 asked for follow‑up, which we are now doing.
God opened doors for us to pray with many on the spot and share the hope of Jesus. Though no one made a decision for Christ that day, people were deeply grateful, and many plan to attend our Fall Festival on October 25, where they will hear the Gospel again.
Ours was the only church represented among dozens of vendors, and we were thankful to shine His light in our community. We believe God will bring fruit from these conversations.
