About this Event
Set within the grounds of Detroit's historic Scarab Club Garden, this intimate Songwriters in the Round performance brings together three voices for an afternoon of song and storytelling. Part of the 33rd presentation of Concert of Colors, Ethan Daniel Davidson, Audra Kubat, and Rachele Eve invite listeners into a shared creative space where each artist takes turns playing songs in rotation.
AUDRA KUBAT:
Detroit Music Award winning singer/songwriter Audra Kubat has released 6 albums to critical acclaim in a career that spans over 20 years. A composer, performer, and educator, Kubat’s work has earned her a place in the community as a resource for empowerment through songwriting and music. Her methods of composition articulate grace and uncover hidden places that defy easy categorization. An offering of stark and beautiful reality that possesses experience yet embraces the whimsical. She has shared bills with Aimee Mann, Rodriguez, Roberta Flack, Greta Van Fleet, The War and Treaty, Whit Hill, and Jolie Holland, to name a few. Kubat has toured extensively throughout the US and sells records to an international audience
ETHAN DANIEL DAVIDSON:
Author and musician Ethan Daniel Davidson has authored 2 books, recorded 15 albums and toured throughout North America and Europe. In 2005 he left his touring life and returned to his Detroit roots.
His latest album Cordelia, co-produced by Luther Dickinson and David Katznelson, finds the veteran singer-songwriter exploring new creative territory while continuing down the beguiling and wondrous road that his discography has charted thus far, which over the years has been praised by NPR Music, All Music, American Songwriter, Magnet Magazine and many more. It’s as lush and deeply felt as Davidson’s music has ever been, with countrified balladry and unvarnished blues accompanying this journeyman’s philosophical explorations. Now, Davidson is gearing up to release Lear, a companion album to its counterpart Cordelia that finds Davidson drawing from his life’s experiences like oil from a freshly tapped well, its eight songs possessing a distinct ache not unlike Neil Young’s On the Beach. Every lyric presents a new road to be explored, and Davidson remains the perfect guide when it comes to the journey that the music takes you on.
RACHELE EVE:
Rachele Eve is a Detroit-based recording artist and multi-instrumentalist known for her confessional, emotionally rich songwriting. Her style took shape in Chicago’s neo-folk scene, where she collaborated widely and was named a Top Local Artist on WXRT. Her sophomore album, Our Love is Imagined, blends classical guitar with cello by Teddy Rankin-Parker (Primus, Iron & Wine) and Ben “Dirtus” White. After time spent on a remote Pacific island, she created her third album, Renunciation, an introspective work on heartbreak and healing featuring Jacki Warren (Major Murphy), Ashley McGrath (Soil and the Sun), and a host of other Michigan artists. She is currently working on a new album due out in 2027.
Eve has performed with Ohtis, Neu Blume, Air People, and Woman Believer, and shared stages with Cass McCombs, Finom, Gia Margaret, and Bonny Doon. Drawing on two decades of experience, she has released multiple albums, with work featured across major network television and video games, and has traveled widely to study and teach music, gardening, yoga, and creative empowerment.
