OvaryActive Podcast hosts and authors of “Estrogen Interrupted” join VPFW and VCU specialists to share how to thrive during perimenopause.
About this Event

Menopause is finally receiving its due, but perimenopause is actually the time when women most struggle with an onslaught of invasive bodily changes. From weight gain, hair loss, and brain fog to low libido, depression, and trouble sleeping, women may begin to experience perimenopausal symptoms as early as their mid-thirties — and they can last for a decade or more.

Whether you're already feeling the "heat" or bracing for the worst, Virginia Physicians for Women (VPFW) invites you to an evening designed to take the mystery out of midlife and show you how to survive and thrive during perimenopause. Think of it as the ultimate girls' night out—with a heavy side of medical expertise.

  • Get Insights from the Experts: You'll learn all about perimenopause symptoms and treatment options straight from the experts, OvaryActive Podcast hosts Dr. Rebecca Dunbsmoor-Su and Dr. Amy Voedisch, as they kick off their book tour for Estrogen Interrupted: A Guide to Surviving and Thriving in Perimenopause. They'll share their key takeaways from writing a roadmap for this critically misunderstood phase of women's lives.
  • Hear Q&A with Local Specialists: Following the talk, Dr. Dunsmoor-Su and Dr. Voedisch will participate in a panel discussion with local perimenopause experts from VPFW and VCU to answer your most burning perimenopause questions. (Pro tip: you can submit a question when you purchase a ticket.) You'll get to hear each panelist's personal perimenopause journey as well as practical advice from their ongoing mission to help women find relief.
  • Find Community Connections: Realizing you aren't alone is often the best medicine. You’ll be surrounded by other women trying to navigate the perimenopause transition and all the challenges that come with it.

We hope you'll join us for this opportunity to ditch the Google searches and get real, evidence-based answers about perimenopause in a knowledgeable, supportive environment.

At the event, VPFW will be collecting toiletry donations for The LightHouseRVA, a safe, loving community where women in recovery find joy, healing, hope, and empowerment to take their next best step. Please consider donating some of their most-needed items: full -sized shampoo and conditioner sets, toothpaste, and deodorant.
