A free educational estate planning seminar focused on clarity, decision-making, and understanding your options under the law.

About this Event

Many people know they should think about estate planning but feel unsure where to start. The topic can feel technical, overwhelming, or easy to postpone.

This free educational seminar provides a clear introduction to how estate planning works, what decisions it actually controls, and why planning matters long before the end of life. It explains how the system works, why it applies to far more people than most realize, and how planning helps replace uncertainty with clarity.

Food will be served during the event.

Why Attend This Seminar?

Most people do not avoid estate planning because they do not care. They avoid it because the topic feels confusing, overwhelming, or easy to postpone.

This seminar helps you understand:

  • Why estate planning is commonly overlooked
  • What the law does when no plan is in place
  • How planning affects both life and death, not just one or the other
  • How thoughtful planning can reduce disruption, stress, and uncertainty for loved ones

The goal is not to push documents or decisions, but to explain how planning works so you can make informed choices at your own pace.

What You’ll Learn

During this seminar, we’ll cover:

  • What estate planning actually controls under the law
  • Why incapacity planning often matters sooner than people expect
  • The role of powers of attorney and health care directives
  • What a will does — and what it does not do
  • What happens when someone passes away without a will
  • The difference between probate and non-probate assets
  • What trusts are, when they may make sense, and when they may not
  • Why estate plans should be reviewed over time, not created once and forgotten
  • How state law impacts planning, including considerations for Alabama and Florida

Who Should Attend?

This seminar is designed for:

  • Adults at any stage of life who want to understand how estate planning works
  • Parents, caregivers, retirees, and blended families
  • Young adults and families navigating medical or financial decision-making
  • Anyone who does not yet have an estate plan
  • Anyone who already has documents but is unsure whether they still work as intended

No prior knowledge is required.

What to Expect

This is a calm, educational, and approachable presentation.

You can expect:

  • Clear explanations in plain language
  • No confusing legal jargon
  • Real-world context instead of hypotheticals
  • Time for questions
  • No pressure to sign up for services

About the Presenter

This seminar is presented by Mark Eiland, J.D., LL.M. in Taxation, attorney and founder of Heircraft Planning. He is admitted to practice law in Alabama and Florida.
