The workshop will make the participant aware of:
• The rights and obligations of the respective parties, and the mechanisms/steps that the Landowner/Person in Charge must implement in order to protect their rights;
• The principle of “housing as a benefit”, and the importance of a housing policy and housing agreement, and how the Employer’s Disciplinary Code is incorporated—this is discussed in depth
• Lease agreement vs Housing agreement (housing as a benefit)
• Recovery of loss/damages
• Transfer of the right of occupancy
• Overcrowding and the duty of the Owner/Employer to ad alterations, and steps that the Owner/Employer can take to prevent overcrowding
• Enforceability of a lodging fee (inslaapfooi)
• Grazing rights, and the right to cultivate cannabis
• The right to be buried on the land
• Enforceability of controlled access
• Termination of residence and the eviction process
