105Km cycling event starting from Burnham-on-Crouch. Controls at Burnham-on-Crouch, South Hanningfield, North Weald Airfield, Littley Green, plus 2 information controlsStage 3 of the Essex Tourdax. Zigzagging east to North Weald Airfield then back to the heart of Mid-Essex and ACME’s spiritual home, the Compasses, Littley Green.
Starting from The Ground Coffee House in Burnham-on-Crouch there are two interim café stops at Café on the Water, South Hanningfield and Rosey Lea Café. North Weald Airfield.
Starting from the Ground Coffee House in Burnham High Street (opens 08:00), the route heads north to an info control then west to the first control for elevenses at the Café on the Water, at Hanningfield Reservoir visitor centre. Afterwards, we continue in a westerly direction to lunch at Rosey Lea Café, at North Weald Airfield, via another info control at Fiddlers Hamlet. At the airfield gate just tell the security staff you’re going to the café and know the way – proceed with caution as there may well be aircraft crossing from the hangars to the runway. After lunch the route turns east via yet another info to the arrivée at the Compasses, Littley Green. En-route there are several opportunities for an afternoon pub stop. From the finish there’s a short 16km ride on familiar lanes back to Witham or wherever home is!
