Essential Drawing Skills with Jessica Schiffman

Learn essential drawing skills in this weekly class and overcome drawing roadblocks you've struggled with in the past. All Levels Welcome!

Lessons will include linear perspective, foreshortening, managing dark and light, drawing various animals, drawing mountains and rock formations, drawing fabric, placing figures in an environment, drawing trees and foliage, drawing water and reflections, and more. Emphasis will be placed on creating the illusion of depth and three-dimensional form.

There will be a different topic each week in no particular order, drop-ins are welcome. This class is beneficial for students of all levels. Beginners and advanced students are equally welcome.

Materials List:

Sketch book, 9x12 is a good size but larger is fine. It's good to also have a smaller sketchbook for drawing in public without feeling conspicuous.

Large newsprint pad, 18x24 more or less.

Pencils, some light and some dark, I'm using an ordinary #2 pencil for the light one and a 9b woodless graphite pencil for the dark, but there plenty of choices. H pencils are lighter, the higher the number the lighter, and B pencils are darker, the higher the number the darker, so 9B is very dark, and 6H is very light.

A kneaded eraser.

Any other drawing implements you like.
