Come to this class run by our volunteers and learn how to look after your cycle (bike, wheelchair, or other) as we transition into spring.
About this Event

What to expect?


Does your bike need a refresh after winter? Want to feel more confident doing basic maintenance yourself, or knowing what to say when you go into a bike shop? This 1.5-hour session will cover the essentials of looking after the bike you love and keeping it running well year round. You’ll learn how to:

This class is open to ETL members and non-members!

  • Do a regular M-check to keep track of the condition of your bike
  • Take care of your chain and replace when worn
  • Identify and repair other basic issues


No experience necessary - come and learn! Bring your own bike along - we’ll aim to troubleshoot specific issues you are having and help you fix them.

Cost of any parts purchased during the session not included.

Requirements
  • Bring your own cycle (bike, trike, wheelchair, unicycle ...) to work on.

Cancelling

  • Out of courtesy to volunteers please cancel your booking 48 hours in advance.
  • This will give us the opportunity to offer the spot to another attendee and make the most of the time our volunteers are offering!

Cost

  • £11.50 Standard | £10 ETL Members* 10% Discount | £8 Concession
  • + cost of any parts purchased during the session

*Proof of ETL membership required for discount when attending the workshop.

  • The session will take place in the ETL Meadowbank Hub, 121 Lawrie Reilly Place, EH7 5GS.
  • The shop is best accessed via the cycle-pedestrian path south of the railway bridge overpass.

**** NOTE: Please notify us before booking a ticket for a minor. The workshops at the Edinburgh Tool Library are for participants age 18 or over but we might welcome participants aged 15-17 when accompanied by a parent/guardian. We will consider if the workshop is appropriate for a minor and reserve the right to confirm or cancel the booking. Thank you for your understanding and please do get in touch beforehand.
