The Electric Squeezebox Orchestra (Jazzschool Resident Artists) is a 17-piece big band led by Erik Jekabson and features many of the best players and arrangers in the Bay Area!

Andrea Claburn: Vocalist, composer, and arranger Andrea Claburn brings a captivating blend of classical training and jazz passion to every performance, shaped by her Baltimore roots and a musical upbringing steeped in both piano and violin. Now based in San Francisco, Andrea is celebrated for her “highly instrumental use of her voice”—a style that’s as riveting as it is expressive—while her compositions and arrangements breathe new life into jazz standards and contemporary works alike. A conservatory-trained musician with degrees from UC Berkeley and the California Jazz Conservatory, Andrea’s artistry is fueled by deep musical intelligence, wit, and a storyteller’s flair, earning her the Mark Murphy Vocal Scholarship and a place on the CJC vocal faculty. Her acclaimed debut album, Nightshade, showcases her dynamic collaborations with West Coast jazz luminaries and her knack for delivering performances that are both passionate and rooted in the jazz tradition, drawing praise as “one of the most auspicious recording debuts for a jazz singer” and marking her as a distinctive voice in today’s jazz landscape.

Jamie Z. is a vocalist, composer, and music educator known for her dynamic blend of professional performance and student-centered teaching. She received a Bachelors majoring in vocal music performance at the California Jazz Conservatory in 2020 after graduating for the vocal department at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts in 2016. Jamie is the creator of the critically acclaimed musical Sign My Name to Freedom and has performed at major venues including Carnegie Hall, SFJAZZ Center, and Yoshi’s. Jamie has opened for world-renowned artists such as Herbie Hancock and Paula West and has collaborated with leading Bay Area musicians including Marcus Shelby and Dr. John Calloway. Before transitioning into education, she worked extensively as a lead singer and songwriter in multiple Bay Area ensembles and appeared in a musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night by the writer of the Broadway musical Suffs. Jamie has helped many students earn admission to top performing arts schools and is committed to nurturing confidence, creativity, and joy in every young musician she teaches.
