Nearly 50 years into their career, underground icons ESG will make their Wisconsin debut. Formed in 1978 in the South Bronx by the Scroggins sisters, ESG defied genre confines with their infectious and artful ties to funk, disco, and hip-hop. They wrote some of popular music’s most sampled tracks, heard in songs by Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, and even Miles Davis.
"I am very happy that we will be performing for the first time EVER in Milwaukee, and that the Cactus Club is the one to bring ESG there! It's going to be a night full of fun and dancing!! - Renee Scroggins of ESG
50% of funds grossed will be donated to Cactus+ to help Cactus Club realize a more inclusive and accessible future. The Accessibility Initiative braids mobility-centered infrastructure improvements, artist resourcing, and community programming. The building is nearly 140 years old. The entrance, bathrooms, stage, and green room are not wheelchair accessible.
We are working with architects to determine the scope of the mobility-centered renovations and expansion. This is an ambitious cultural project and building project. We want to invite artists and community members to be part of the process, beyond just fundraising, but also in dreaming and determining how we
move forward with it. - Kelsey Kaufmann, owner of Cactus Club and co-founder of Cactus+
