About this Event
The California Hispanic Legislative Caucus invites legislators, legislative staff, community advocates, and policy stakeholders to join us for an Escucha Session exploring a question at the heart of California's economic future: Is there a connection between community safety and economic empowerment for Hispanic Californians? If so, what does the evidence show?
What We'll Explore
When families live in unsafe neighborhoods and businesses operate on unsafe corridors, what actually happens? Does crime suppress business investment, limit workforce participation, and affect wages? Do unsafe communities create barriers to economic mobility for Hispanic Californians? If they do, what has California's investment in public safety and economic development done to address it?
This session brings together business, community health, research, and public safety leaders to examine the evidence together. What do those closest to these communities actually see? Where has investment worked, where has it fallen short, and what should the legislature do next?
