The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (ESB MACC) presents La Mujer: A Celebration of Women. In its 13th year, the ESB MACC's annual La Mujer festival celebrates women and women-identifying individuals in Austin’s Mexican American/ Latino/a/x/e Community.

The festival will take place on Sunday, April 21 from 1:00pm-6:00pm at the Cathedral Art Gallery which is located at 2403 E 16th St. Austin, TX 78702.

This event brings focus to mental health and wellness and will feature community partners and organization that specialize in mental health services and holistic healing. This event brings awareness to the accomplishments of women, engages women in wellness and art-making activities, and creates a conscious space where women can be seen, heard, and empowered.
* Please note that the general RSVP will allow you access to the entire event including all the activities outdoors, which includes the Frida Friday ATX market, children's activities, and tables of information. For the workshops indoor, please reserve your space by getting a ticket to the workshop of your choice.
The keynote speaker will start at 1:00pm indoors, and all attendees are invited to attend, however space can accommodate about 100 guests so if you are not one of the first 100 people to get a spot for the keynote, you can still enjoy all other outdoor activities and you can view the indoor art gallery as folks exit the building/ start the workshops.

Attendees will be able to enjoy these FREE activities:


  • Visual Art Exhibits on exhibit at the , with curator Monica Ceniceros (indoor)
  • Artisan Marketplace - a Las Ofrendas production by TK Tunchez. An economic movement of intersectional marketplaces & cultural spaces centering Latinx, BIPOC & queer folks. A great opportunity to shop local! (outdoor)
  • Artist Workshops (indoor) pre-register to attend one of these workshops:
    - Sound Healing with Andrea Cortes, (from the Mind, Body and Music Center)
    - Rebozo (Shawl) Workshop with Irasema (from Manos Magicas)
    - Somatic Writing Workshop by Leticia Urieta (Barrio Writers)
    * For these Artist Workshops, please RSVP by selecting a ticket for the workshop of your choice. Folks who RSVP to a workshop and show up on time are guaranteed a spot in the workshop.
  • Drop-In Activities (outdoor) - anyone can participate in these activities:
    -Children's Art making activities with MACC Education & Caminos including free games hands-on craft time for all ages! Adults can participate too!
    -Chamoy kit making with Besitos Chamoy- learn about this woman-owned local business and make your own chamoy candy!
  • "Open Pitch" / "Open Mic" opportunity for any participant to speak about their business, craft, or organization or share music, poetry, or spoken word (indoor)
  • Mental Health Resources presented by:
    - Ashwell House
    - Austin Public Behavior Health
    - League of Women Voters
