EVERYONE in the ESASD district should be there.
Who will be affected by this?
-home owners/tax payers
-ALL students k-12
-teachers and staff
-families
-business owners
-the entire community
These redistricting options will leave a ripple effect for years to come! This isn’t just about closing JM Hill. In order to do that students in other schools will be DISPLACED, Class sizes will INCREASE, the time your children spend on the bus will INCREASE. Have multiple students? Plan on having them in multiple building nearly an HOUR APART! Property values will DECREASE while they continue to RAISE your school taxes!!!
-JM hill kids will be sent to ESE
-ESE students can be sent to Smithfield and Resica
-Smithfield students can be sent to middle Smithfield and Resica
-Resica students can be sent to Middle Smithfield and Bushkill
-Middle Smithfield students can be sent to Bushkill
-JTL students will ALL be sent to Lehman and HS North
-HS North students will ALL be sent to HS South.
-ALL 9th grade will be sent to JTL
All while JM Hill sits vacant for years just like Barrett Elementary, Clearview Elementary, and Morey Elementry!
Our transportation department already can’t keep up with daily needs. Now the plan is to add multiple bus runs and keep students on buses for over an hour.
U.S. research shows closing a neighborhood elementary school can reduce nearby home values by roughly 6–10%, impacting every homeowner, not just families with students. Again this just doesn’t affect JM Hill home owners. EVERYONE in the district is affected because redistricting to hour long bus rides makes your property LESS desirable.
