Ralph Vaughan Williams was one of England's greatest composers, who's music has been described as representing the essence of Englishness. At the start of the 20th Century he was among the first to collect folk songs from ordinary coulntry folk.
Vaughan Williams' collecting of folk songs began in Essex in 1903 and this talk will look at the many songs he collected in this county and people he met.
