About this Event

From ending salary history questions during recruitment to thinking creatively about benefits, how can we make workplaces work better for women? Join us for an insightful evening as we hear from an expert panel, including Alesha De-Freitas MBE, Selena Flavius and Emma Green, and chaired by Dr Grace Lordan. Hosted at LSE Library which is home to The Women's Library collection, our event has been organised by Fawcett East London in what is the 100-year anniversary of history together between The Women's Library and The Fawcett Society.
Panellists:
Selina Flavius is the award-winning Founder of the financial coaching and training company Black Girl Finance. She hosts a weekly podcast of the same name, is the author of the personal-finance book 'Black Girl Finance - Let's Talk Money', and creator of the Black Girl Finance Festival. Selina holds a number of ambassadorial and voluntary roles and is the winner of WeAreTheCity’s Rising Star Award, a Female Power Award Finalist and also a British Bank Award Money Blogger of the Year Finalist.

Alesha De-Freitas is Head of Policy, Research and Advocacy at the Fawcett Society, a gender equality charity. Prior to joining Fawcett, she worked in the Civil Service for 15 years in economic, regulatory and trade policy, most recently as Deputy Director for Competition Policy. In 2017, Alesha was awarded an MBE for services to the digital single market. She was a school governor for over 10 years and is a champion for inclusive education.

Emma Green is the Head of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at the Barbican. With over 13 years of experience across the public, the arts and the union sectors, she has a strong record in delivering culture change and business and people strategies. Prior to joining the Barbican, Emma was Head of Diversity & Inclusion and People Survey at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. She is also an executive coach.
