EPIC Parenting — Free 6-Week Parenting Class | Children's Aid Society of Alabama
Children's Aid Society of Alabama offers Effective Parenting Instruction Course (EPIC) — a free, 6-week in-person parenting class for parents and caregivers of children of all ages.
EPIC uses the evidence-based Active Parenting curriculum developed by Dr. Michael H. Popkin, rooted in the Adlerian psychology principles of Alfred Adler and Rudolf Dreikurs. Classes focus on practical skills training that strengthens parent-child relationships and promotes healthy family dynamics.
Morning and evening sessions are available for your convenience.
These EVENING sessions will be hosted at:
Children's Aid Society of Alabama (Birmingham Office)
6:00pm - 8:00pm
Once per week, beginning June 15th, Ending July 20th

- Understanding children's behavior and motivation
- Encouragement, self-esteem, and positive communication
- Empathy, feelings, and problem-solving strategies
- Effective discipline and natural/logical consequences
- Building strong family relationships
- Shaken baby prevention and safe sleep
- Smoking cessation and drug/alcohol prevention conversations
- Parenting children with special needs
- School success strategies for your child
Who should attend: All parents and caregivers; regardless of age, family structure, or experience level. EPIC is for anyone who wants to be a more confident, connected parent.
