's artistic journey began with early lessons in origami and sumi ink drawing from her Japanese godmother, followed by watercolor instruction from her father at the age of five. She later explored dressmaking during her teenage years, leading to work at esteemed fashion houses like Dior and Nautica on 5th Avenue. Relocating to Baltimore in April 2021, Susan established her studio on W. Pratt Street, where she continues her exploration of her 'Subway Sonnet' series and collaborates with designers on various projects.
