Dr Lucinda Newns - Environment Book Club - Rachel Carson's Silent Spring
Join us to discuss Rachel Carson's hugely influential book about pesticide overuse in the post-war period.
This work led to the banning of chemicals like DDT and galvanised a generation of environmental activists in the 1960's.
What lessons does Carson offer us for facing today's environmental challenges.
This informal and accessible discussion will be led by Dr Lucinda Newns, Senior Lecturer in English at Lincoln Bishop University.
While attendees are encouraged to read the book in advance to get the most out of the event, selected extracts will be circulated beforehand to those who sign up, ensuring everyone can take part in the conversation.
