About this Event

Are you feeling disconnected from your surroundings or stuck in the daily grind?
We will guide you through techniques for movement, sensory awareness and creative freedom to help you develop clarity, purpose and meaning. Explore new ways of feeling connected with yourself, others and the world we all share.
Recognise places of unhealthy connection and reduce the mental and emotional clutter.
Do you long for a moment of peace and a chance to tap into your creativity?
We live in a world that never stops, and it's easy to lose touch with ourselves. Making Ensō a part of your regular practice will help you escape the disconnection trap.
The disconnection trap:
The more disconnected we are from the moment we are in, the more noise we create to give our lives meaning. This is leads to:
- Social isolation
- Anxiety
- Demotivation
- Loss of focus
- Struggle
- Absence of freedom
- Loss of creativity
- Addiction behaviours
- Destructive patterns
- Relationship problems
- Over consumption (of food, of things, of information, of time, of emotion)
The Ensō event from Driftwood Studio is a way of developing new skills, techniqiues, experience and relationships to get out of the disconnection trap.

Origins
As the name suggests, the roots of Ensō are in the culture of Japanese Zen Buddhism. On a speaking visit to Japan in 2014, David Stone was introduced to Japanese Calligraphy at the World OT Congress in Yokohama & Tokyo.
Ten years on and in collaboration with Dave Brown, Driftwood Studio came into being. We observe the seven aesthetic principles of Japanese culture in our work:
- Kanso (simplicity)
- Fukinsei (asymmetry)
- Shizen (naturalness)
- Shibui (understated beauty)
- Yūgen (profound grace)
- Datsuzoku (freedom from convention)
- Seijaku (tranquility)
These seven principles are the components of the concept of 'Wabi Sabi,' which refers to the truth of ipermanence and imperfection. We use these ideas to guide our work and help us avoid becoming tangled up in self doubt, anxiety and destructive patterns.
Be in a place of simple, creative freedom.
