About this Event
This CPD session is crafted for communication professionals, including Registered & Trainee Sign Language Interpreters, and Communication Support Workers (CSW), who are currently, or may in the future, support individuals who have experienced Language Deprivation.
In our role as interpreters, we often encounter clients whose communication needs are not immediately apparent. To navigate these situations with confidence, it is essential to have a diverse set of strategies at our disposal. By equipping yourself with these tools, you can enhance your ability to deliver the most suitable communication mode, tailored to each client's unique requirements.
This session offers practical guidance and proven techniques designed to enhance your communication practice. You will be encouraged to apply what you learn in a supportive environment through role-play exercises, allowing you to build confidence and refine your skills.
The course will be led by a highly experienced Interpreter and a seasoned Residential and Community Support Worker, both experts in the area of Deafness and Language Deprivation. Together, they will provide you with valuable insights and hands-on strategies to effectively support individuals affected by language deprivation, ensuring you are well-prepared for any challenges you may face in your professional practice.
