The Course
So, what do we do, and how are we different?
Art at the Heart aims to empower you to discover your own creative expression. Our course teaches you not what to think, but how to think.
- We work in condensed blocks, allowing you to focus deeply and build skills quickly
- Sessions alternate between painting and drawing, developing:
- colour theory and blocking in
- mark-making and composition.
- Within just a few sessions, you’ll develop an arsenal of transferable skills to apply to every artwork you create & develop your portfolio
If you’re expecting a typical classroom lesson, think again!
- Individual creative development is supported with a healthy dose of collaborative learning.
- Take part in group crits that strengthen reflection, communication, and confidence
- Bounce ideas off like-minded peers and learn to articulate your creative process.
Meet the Tutors
Art at the Heart is run by Kamaljit and Mukesh (directors).
- Both are qualified lecturers with 25+ years of experience in formal education
- Nationally recognised for innovation in teaching and learning (TES FE Award for Outstanding Innovation in Teaching & Learning 2011).
- But above that, Kamaljit and Mukesh are skilled in pastoral care and are committed to supporting the uniqueness of every student.
For this course, you’ll be led by Mukesh.
- Passionate, energetic and dynamic are just a few words to describe Mukesh’s style of teaching.
- He specialises in accelerated learning, developing critical faculties and skills simultaneously.
