Learn the mindful art of English Paper Piecing and create a beautiful hand-stitched star ornament — a handmade heirloom to hang on your tree out each year after year, or perfect for gifting to someone special.
What is English Paper Piecing?
English Paper Piecing (EPP) is a traditional hand-sewing technique where small pieces of fabric are wrapped around paper templates and stitched together with precision. This process makes it wonderfully relaxing and portable, so a favourite for mindful makers and those who enjoy slow, creative projects.
What You’ll Make
In this festive three-hour class, you’ll learn how to hand-sew a unique six-pointed star using the EPP method. To start with we will provide a variety of fabrics or you can bring some of your own favourites from your stash. Then, using a template and expert guidance your will create your own hand sewn design. Once your star is complete, you’ll add a soft felt backing and hanging string to turn it into a lovely Christmas decoration or handmade gift.
Everything you create is yours to take home. Plus. you’ll also receive printed instructions so you can make more at home, and extra materials kits will be available to buy during the class if you’d like to keep creating. Continuing at home we will give even be able to make star bunting or add embellishments to make your stars really shine!

All workshops are beginner-friendly unless stated otherwise, and we provide all the materials you need. Adult sessions are for ages 16+, teen classes for ages 11–16, and family workshops for ages 7+ with an accompanying adult. Everything you create is yours to take home.
