About this Event
The French Library is excited to announce our new English Book Club!
We will be reading and discussing works from our new English language collection to help English speakers discover the world of Francophone literature.
----
Our third meeting will be Tuesday, June 2nd, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
We will be discussing "Salvation Army" by Abdellah Taïa, Taïa’s breakout autobiographical coming-of-age novel follows his journey from a poor childhood in Salé to Tangier adolescence and a disillusioning adulthood in Europe, exploring family, desire, and breaking silence in a society where homosexuality remains criminalized. Abdellah Taïa is a Moroccan writer and filmmaker whose confessional works on culture and identity have made into a breakout star of French literature.
Please read the book in its entirety and come ready to discuss with an open heart! The book club is a space for readers of all backgrounds. Previous familiarity with French literature or French language is not required. The discussion will be in English.
