About this Event

Embark on a voyage through the daring exploits of England’s legendary seafarers! In our seventh session, English Adventures at Sea: Drake, Raleigh, and Frobisher (1558–1603), we explore the age of maritime exploration and naval ambition that expanded England’s horizons and established its global influence. From Drake’s circumnavigation to Raleigh’s colonial ventures and Frobisher’s Arctic expeditions, these figures embody the spirit of Elizabethan adventure and ingenuity.

Guided by Alex, a distinguished scholar and Fellow of multiple prestigious institutions including Christ’s College Cambridge, the McDonald Institute of Archaeological Research, and the Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies at HSE University Moscow, this session will delve into pivotal questions: How did these explorers contribute to England’s rise as a maritime power? What were the costs and consequences of their endeavors for both England and the wider world?

Join us to navigate the triumphs and controversies of England’s age of exploration. Spaces are limited—reserve your seat today for an enthralling journey into the seas of history!
