Talk: Engaging with UCD skeptics – from a Product perspective
In this talk, Eliza shares practical insights from working on both sides of the fence – within UCD and Product roles in Digital Government. Drawing on real experiences, she explores why scepticism about UCD can emerge, the common pain points both disciplines face, and how we can build stronger collaboration.
Championing radical candour and empathy, Eliza offers actionable approaches to help UCD practitioners engage sceptical stakeholders more effectively. Attendees will come away with practical techniques, fresh perspectives and increased confidence to navigate challenging conversations and build trust across multidisciplinary teams.
About the speaker
Eliza is a Digital Product Owner at DWP (Department for Work and Pensions), as well as a singer and vocal specialist. She brings a diverse background in problem solving, people management, process improvement and facilitation.
Rising quickly through the ranks of Digital Government roles, from User Research Operations to Product Management, she has experience working across both UCD (User Centred Design) and Product disciplines. Her unique communication style blends empathy, clarity and creativity to help teams better understand each other and work more effectively together.
