Engage in the Community: Redistricting
Who Draws the Lines that Shape Our Lives?
Florida is up next with its push to redraw voting lines in a rare mid-decade special session on redistricting, following in the footsteps of states across the country.
It's a subject that is complex and can be hard to understand. This event creates space to learn how it works and why it matters. We'll gather in Osceola County, site of a Congressional seat that has caught the eyes of people looking to redraw the maps.
Join Central Florida Public Media for a community conversation, hosted by Cheryn Stone, designed to inform. This conversation will be taped live and air the following Thursday on Engage on 90.7 FM Central Florida Public Media.
This is a space to ask questions, hear different perspectives, and learn together.
Weโll explore:
What redistricting is and how it works
How district boundaries are determined
How map changes can impact communities
What fair representation can look like from different perspectives
Confirmed guests include:
Aubrey Jewett, UCF Associate Professor and Associate Director, School of Politics, Security, and International Affairs
Mary Jane Arrington, Osceola County Supervisor of Elections
Amy Keith, Executive Director, Common Cause Florida
Youโll also have opportunities to engage through interactive experiences, listening stations, and a recording booth, bringing real voices into the conversation. Whether youโre new to this topic or want a deeper understanding, youโre welcome here.
Come with questions.
Leave with clarity.
