Attend this three-day training and become an Energy Champion volunteer with the Renewal Programme!
About this Event

The Renewal Programme are partnering with Newham council, the Cadent Foundation, Groundwork London and Skills Enterprise to deliver a community led Energy Champions programme that supports vulnerable communities who are strugglingly to pay their energy bills.

IMPORTANT: future volunteers will need to attend all 3 training sessions.

Our Community Energy champions will give tips on how to: save energy, reduce bills, and keep warm. You will volunteer as part of a small team of volunteers, supported by our project leads, to connect with the community through attending events taking place across the borough. We strongly encourage each volunteer to bring their own ideas, personality and skills to the table.

Volunteer tasks include: - Develop confident presentation skills when talking about Energy tips and the work of the Renewal Programme. - Attend events with the aim of providing energy tips and sharing our work with more people in the local community, giving them information about our relevant services. - Engage with your community (neighbours, family, groups), providing energy tips and sharing our work with them. - Identify organisations, groups, locations and events where the project lead can create links with the community. - Ongoing communication with project lead, to gain a strong understanding of the services on offer. - Ensure resources are collected and organised for the events and that event stall is set up correctly. - Ongoing leafletting in the community.

When you’re out there sharing the work we do, you might, for example: ● Attend a local coffee morning ● Attend an event focusing on fuel poverty ● Attend a neighbourhood fair ● Be invited to speak to service users in another charity ● Any other relevant events
