Antonio Carlos Jobim was a pivotal figure in the development of Bossa Nova, integrating Afro-Caribbean music with a poetic quality. Mongo Santamaria influenced Latin jazz by combining Afro-Cuban rhythms with jazz improvisation, highlighting his percussion skills, particularly on the congas, to produce dynamic grooves.
