Two Classes AvailableFriday, May 1st 6:00pm – 8:30 pm
Saturday, May 2nd 1:00–3:30 PM
Join us for a special workshop exploring the luminous, layered world of encaustic painting. In this 2.5-hour workshop, students will create a mixed-media encaustic artwork inspired by flowers.
Working with molten beeswax and damar resin, we’ll build soft, atmospheric backgrounds using layers of color, collage, and mark-making. Once the surface has depth and movement, we’ll integrate dried flowers as the focal point, allowing them to emerge naturally from the wax rather than sit on top of the surface.
This workshop is designed to feel exploratory and hands-on. You’ll learn how to fuse layers safely, scrape back to reveal texture, draw into wax, and balance control with the beautiful unpredictability that makes encaustic such a compelling medium.
No prior encaustic experience is required. This class is perfect for painters, mixed-media artists, and anyone curious about working with wax in a supportive studio environment.
