Enable Ability Over 25 Co-Production Meeting - November 2025 Join us at Spark Community Space where we'll be discussing the matters that matter to you! Pizza, crisps and squash included. Free to attend
About this Event

We'll be meeting at Spark Community Space at The Pompey Centre on Tuesday 25th November at 6pm, finishing at 8pm.

What do we do?

The social group meet twice a month, as well as having a co-production meeting to discuss the matters that are important and whether we can have an influence on changing how services could be run for the better and for the wider community. We invite key decision-makers so that they can hear your voices and potentially make the changes needed, we also discuss other issues and plan the work which the group would like to focus their efforts towards in future meetings.

We also have some fun in these monthly meetings by offering all attendees free pizza, crisps and squash, we will also be hosting a quiz just for a bit of fun.

Is it suitable for anyone?

This is a disability group open to everyone of all ages, setting the minimum age limit of 25 years old.

Is there a cost to join?

Free to attend with pizza, crisps and squash provided, there may be opportunities to purchase additional food and drink from the venue.

What should we expect from the staff?

Staff are friendly, welcoming and can help support everyone. We cannot support individuals who require one-to-one support, need personal care or those who display challenging behaviour. This is a friendly, safe and fun environment which encourages everyone to speak out without the fear of being judged.

Contact the organiser if there is something which we can do to make it easier for you to attend our events. Attendees are always welcome to bring a parent, carer or a professional who could help them.

If there is something which you think the group should be talking about, then we strongly encourage you to contact the organiser and we can raise the issue when we meet.

Please consider, the purpose of this group is to flex your ability of being independent and living an independent adult lifestyle. All attendees are encouraged to travel to and from the venue independently. Supporting staff can help with making travel arrangements at the end of the activity. If assistance is needed, the organiser being notified prior to arrival would be helpful.

Due to our strong encouragement to form new friendships after our meetings and encouragement to travel to and from activities independently, we ask all participants and/or their parents/carers to sign a declaration on arrival. A copy of this is detailed below.

Conditions & Declaration

Service User Agreement for Enable Ability Activities

This declaration outlines the terms and conditions for service users aged 25 and over with disabilities who participate in activities organised by Enable Ability.

1. Purpose of Activities

The primary purpose of these activities is to foster and embrace independence for service users in a safe and supportive environment.

2. Responsibility Statement

Enable Ability shall not be held responsible for the service user after the agreed set time of the activity, regardless of any incidents, including but not limited to accidents or injuries. It is the responsibility of parents, carers, or the service user to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place for the service user’s safety outside of the agreed activity time.

3. Parental/Carer Involvement

Parents or carers have the right to make the following choices regarding their involvement:

• Allow the service user to stay at the activity alone to encourage their independence.

• Collect the service user from the activity at the agreed time.

• Join the service user during the activity.

• Be on call during the activity to respond in the event of an emergency.

4. Consent to Participate

If a service user is unable to sign on their own behalf, their parent or carer may sign this declaration on their behalf, indicating their agreement with these terms. By signing this declaration, the undersigned acknowledges and agrees to the terms outlined above, releasing Enable Ability from any liability beyond the agreed activity duration.

You are also signing to declare you have no history of past events which may place those attending the event in danger, either causing risk to yourself or any individuals known to you.

5. Consent to Photos and Videos

During our sessions, we may take photos or videos of the sessions. We will always make sure you are aware of us taking a photo or video beforehand so you have the option to be part of the photo or filming. All photos/videos may be used on our website, social media, local/national press or used on publicity materials e.g. leaflets/display boards/reports.

6. GDPR

As you may be aware, the Government introduced new legislation in May 2018 that is commonly referred to as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). GDPR specifically relates to the processing and sharing of personal information. For us to provide services to you, your family member or client, we require you to consent to us holding, processing and potentially sharing the information you provide (and / or that we gather in the provision of service).

By signing this declaration, the undersigned acknowledges and agrees to the terms outlined above, releasing Enable Ability from any liability beyond the agreed activity duration.

The purpose of this project is giving adults with disabilities the freedom to be fully independent without support and care from charity staff. Clients will be able to drink alcohol, smoke and vape whilst at activities if they wish. The charity would simply be facilitating the social meet ups.

The charity wouldn’t endorse activities such as smoking/vaping and will be encouraging everyone to drink responsibly when with us. Any challenging behaviour shown towards staff, other service users and/or members of the public will not be invited back.
