Project-Based Language Learning (PBLL) offers a framework for designing powerful, culturally contextualized learning experiences that matter to learners while creating opportunities for them to use their language to address real world needs. PBLL engages learners in investigating a complex real-world issue over an extended period of time to benefit an authentic audience. From design to implementation, we will walk through the steps to creating a meaningful and successful project. Additionally we will look at ways projects can be adjusted or adapted to fit particular levels or learning contexts. Lastly, throughout the series we will explore ways that Artificial Intelligence can be used to elevate project design and implementation.
Participants who attend all sessions and successfully complete all deliverables will receive a digital badge and have the opportunity to apply for small project implementation support grants from the CLT.
Dates (4-session series): Tuesdays @ 2:00 – 3:15PM HST (75-minutes)
9/9 (Session 1: PBLL Foundations: Essential Elements) – Discover the essential elements of Project-Based Language Learning and how AI can help streamline design while keeping learning authentic and learner-centered.
9/16 (Session 2: PBLL in Action: Launching Your Project) – Learn practical steps to move from project idea to launch, with AI as a creative partner that supports authentic engagement from the start.
9/23 (Session 3: PBLL in Depth: Sustaining Inquiry) – Explore strategies to spark curiosity and guide deeper questions, while leveraging AI to sustain, rather than hinder meaningful inquiry over time.
9/30 (Session 4: PBLL for Impact: Connecting with Audiences) – See how projects gain power when learners share with authentic audiences and how AI tools can extend reach, refine products, and amplify impact.
