ASL Group: The Power of Apprenticeships
Our first talk will explore how ASL Group have embedded apprenticeships at the heart of their recruitment and workforce development strategy, helping attract new talent while upskilling existing employees.
Attendees will hear how apprenticeships are used to develop both practical skills and workplace behaviours, and how this approach has tackled workforce challenges such as supporting an ageing workforce, improving retention, and creating meaningful career progression opportunities. Insights will also be shared on what it takes to implement apprenticeships successfully, including helpful advice for managers.
The session will also highlight how employers can maximise their Apprenticeship Levy funding to invest in their people and future-proof their workforce.
Unlocking Apprenticeship Funding: What Employers Need to Know in 2026
Our second session will break down the latest apprenticeship funding changes and reforms, helping employers understand and leverage all available support. You’ll learn about incentives such as fully funded training for young apprentices, cash grants for new hires, youth jobs grants, and levy transfers for smaller businesses.
Key reforms will be explored, including shorter apprenticeship durations (from 12 to 8 months), new foundation apprenticeships for 16–21-year-olds, modular apprenticeship units in high-demand sectors like AI, digital, and engineering, changes to functional skills requirements, and the rationalisation of low-uptake standards.
Levy-paying employers will gain guidance on avoiding lost funds, managing co-investment requirements, and navigating the Apprenticeship Service account.
The event will then finish with networking and coffee.
