About this Event

The amount of change and uncertainty we’ve experienced over the past few years has left many of us feeling like we have lower-than-usual ‘emotional stores in our tanks’.

Especially for those in customer service roles or those who work in the care sector.
When our ‘emotional stores’ are low, we’re more likely to make poor decisions, ‘snap’ at others and choose coping strategies that aren’t likely to be healthy for us. Therefore, it’s essential that we find ways to avoid unnecessarily using up our emotional reserves, while building sustainable strategies for our health and wellbeing.
Research suggests that demonstrating empathy - feeling what another person is feeling - can drain our own emotional reserves, while demonstrating compassion can be renewing and regenerative for our energy stores
- The difference between empathy and compassion - that empathy can lead to emotional burnout, while compassion tends to be sustainable and regenerative
- How our energy impacts our fatigue - focusing on the importance of the renewal zone in reducing empathy fatigue
- A range of practical strategies to enhance compassion and self-care
