Emmanuel Baptist Church Jazz Vespers Presents Nat Adderley Jr. Quartet
Experience the magic of Nat Adderley Jr. at our next Emmanuel Baptist Church Jazz Vespers! A pivotal figure in contemporary music, Nat Adderley Jr. is best known as the musical backbone for the late, great Luther Vandross. He not only directed Vandross’s live shows but was the creative force behind essential hits, arranging iconic songs like "Superstar," "Here and Now," and "Never Too Much," and composing fan favorites such as “Stop to Love” and “Wait for Love.” His immense talent also led him to produce Luther’s final project, Live at Radio City Music Hall, and the Grammy-winning duet “The Closer I Get To You” with Beyoncé.
Nat brings his powerhouse quartet to deliver a unique sound that bridges genres. This is a rare chance to see a musician whose influence is global, having played sold-out houses from the Blue Note in Beijing to the Inntone Jazz Festival in Austria. You’ll hear straight-ahead jazz rooted in the tradition of excellence, infused with the undeniable R&B and Pop soul he helped define. He is the creative force behind foundational hits that defined the era. The quartet—featuring Mike Lee (Sax), Chris Berger (Bass), and Dwayne “Cook” Broadnax (Drums)—promises an afternoon of deep grooves and exceptional musicianship.
