Thank you for your interest in our inaugural Emerging Directors Showcase! The purpose of the program is to provide a learning environment for New Orleans-area emerging theatre directors to improve their craft through practical application and guidance by mentor directors. Three emerging directors will each direct a One Act play under the guidance of an experienced mentor director.Auditions are October 20 and 21 at Big Couch, 1045 Desire St. Sign up for an audition time on our website. Please prepare two monologues of contrasting styles.
THE MONKEY’S PAW
Directed by Lauren A. Gauthier
W. W. Jacob's classic about a mummified monkey's paw that bestows three wishes on its new owner. A married couple first wishes to test the efficacy of the talisman. Their second wish brings their dead son back from the grave. Then, at the height of a thunderstorm in the dead of night, comes a knock at the door -- and their third wish.
Available Roles:
Mr. White: The patriarch of the family, he is curious and a bit reckless, ultimately retrieving the paw from the fire and making the first wish.
Mrs. White: A loving and somewhat reserved woman who, after her son's death, desperately wishes him back to life.
Herbert White: The White's adult son who is killed in a factory accident, and who flippantly suggests the first wish for money.
Sergeant-Major Morris: A friend of the White family who served in the British army in India and brings the cursed monkey's paw to the family.
Mr. Sampson: A representative from the company where Herbert worked who arrives to inform the family of his fatal accident and deliver the £200 payment that was his death benefit.
STUPID GHOST

The Ghost lived in the woods, Minding Her Own Business and definitely Not Haunting Anyone, until one day she saw a Pretty Girl and followed her home. It totally wasn’t even a thing. The Girl was probably not even going to notice.
A comedy about ruining the lives of the people you love.

MARIE ANTOINETTE’S HEAD

In this campy comedy we follow Marie Antoinette’s hair dresser, Leonardo, as he pursues Marie’s severed head across time and space.

More production info
Rehearsals will take place in November and December, generally on weekday evenings, and weekends according to cast availability. Each one-act will rehearse approximately 8 hours each week (2 hours four times a week) until tech week.
Performances: Big Couch, 1045 Desire St, Dec 18-20, 7:30pm. Two one-acts will be performed each night on a rotating basis. The final schedule will be determined once tech needs are finalized. Each one-act will perform twice. An EXAMPLE schedule is
