RSVP for Emergent Sound Practices final event of this season! Join us at the Orchard Picnic Area in Tilden Regional Park for a community picnic and performances by Christopher Robin Duncan, Beast Nest, and Ava Koohboor. This event is all about celebrating the end of our 2nd season with our amazing community.
We'll be grilling some hearty veggie burgers and will have some extra goodies. We encourage others to bring a little something to contribute if feasible for you, true picnic style. Blankets, camping chairs, sunscreen, etc. all encouraged. This is gonna be a fun one! Food hangs start at 2pm and music starts at 3pm.
Recommended sliding scale: $15-30 food + music; $10-20 music only
All proceeds go to artists and to cover some costs of the event, but always to artists first! NOTAFLOF
This RSVP is to help us get a head count for food. Cash or Venmo accepted at the event, but please note there's little to no cell service on site!

This outdoor sound performance series offers an unconventional circumstance for artists to share emergent and experimental works in conversation with place. With an intent to tread lightly, all presented sound is generated either acoustically or through small, portable amplification. Through the assertion of process, and by embracing the unpredictable nature of outdoor environments, the artists of this series depict, in real time, how music is more than simply putting notes and sounds together – it is placing oneself in a specific moment and context, preparing mind and body to shape sound, in community with observers, players, and one’s surroundings. It’s a relationship.
In emphasizing this relationship as part of the creative process, with this series, we seek to highlight a palpable alternative to oppressive, unhealthy, and widely accepted societal norms. We seek to uplift marginalized, historically silenced, and underrepresented voices. Emphasizing reflection and intentional interactions, we aim to activate possibilities for celebrating and sharing culture; an imperative step towards strengthening community.
