About this Event
Emergency Preparedness Focus Group
San Francisco is working to make emergency information more accessible and inclusive. We want to hear from you.
This focus group is intended for people who live or work in San Francisco and are deaf or hard of hearing. In this focus group, you will:
• Explore the city's emergency preparedness campaign ReadySF (sf.gov/ReadySF) and alert and warning system AlertSF (alertsf.org)
• Review sample emergency messages and social media posts
• Watch short video clips (press conferences) and share what works and what does not
ASL interpretation and captions will be provided. Additional accommodations are available upon request.
This is an in-person session. Light dinner and beverages will be provided.
We are offering two sessions—please choose the one that works best for your schedule. To allow more people to participate, we ask that you attend only one session. The second focus group will take place on April 17 in a hybrid format (registration for that session available here)
The Department of Emergency Management plans to host additional focus groups later this year with members of other disability communities to gather broader input on emergency communications. Please direct questions to [email protected]
