About this Event
This course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to provide first aid in a remote environment. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the course, providing you with hands-on training in a variety of scenarios that you may encounter while hiking, climbing, or working where immediate assistance is unlikely or delayed due to location.
Here is an outline of what you can expect from our one day mountain first aid course:
Morning Session (9:00am - 12:30pm):
- Introduction to mountain first aid
- Basic life support and CPR
- Patient assessment and triage
- Treatment of common injuries, such as cuts, burns, and fractures
- Hypothermia and frostbite management
Lunch Break (12:30pm - 1:00pm)
Afternoon Session (1:00pm - 5:00pm):
- Altitude sickness and high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) management
- Treatment of common mountain-related illnesses, such as dehydration and sunburn
- Use of first aid equipment, such as splints and bandages
- Evacuation techniques and emergency communication
Throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to participate in various scenarios that simulate real-life situations that you may encounter while in the mountains. These scenarios will allow you to practice your skills and gain confidence in your ability to provide first aid in a mountain environment.
At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate a HSE endorsed certificate. This certificate is recognized by employers in the UK and may be required for certain mountain-related or remote working activities.
HOW IT WORKS
Requirements:
- Participants must be at least 18 years old
- Participants should have basic knowledge of first aid
- Participants should bring comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activities
