This course provides the basic required knowledge to understand the requirements for different types of systems, functions and locations of luminaires for compliance to BS 5266 / BS EN 1838 / BS EN 50172.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This course is aimed at contractors and individuals looking to gain an understanding of emergency lighting systems, both legislation and fundamental design requirements. There are no formal entry requirements to attend the course, however it is ideally suited to practicing electricians or individuals who wish to proceed to the design and maintenance module.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The course will provide delegates with an understanding of emergency lighting system compliance to BS 5266 / BS EN 1838 / BS EN 50172, plus the relevant legislation required. Delegates will gain an understanding of system types, the different functions of emergency lighting, product compliance and locations of luminaires.
Completion of this module will allow delegates to proceed to the design & maintenance module. Successful delegates will receive a CPD accredited certificate.
COURSE OUTLINE
This course will cover:
• An understanding of legal requirements for emergency lighting systems
• An understanding of products in the marketplace
• An understanding of Emergency Lighting Systems
• The requirements of BS 5266 / BS EN 1838 / BS EN 50172
• Siting of equipment
• Emergency lighting levels
• Review of certificates
An end of session exam will be held
