About this Event

Course Overview

This one-day course is SQA SCQF Level 6 accredited and satisfies the requirements of the new HSE qualification “Emergency First Aider in the Workplace”. Delegates are competency assessed throughout the course, in scenarios they may reasonably encounter in real life. But please do not worry about this assessment as the Trainer will be there to support you every step of the way.

Delegates will have the opportunity to learn in a practical way, with aids and resources. There is also the chance to ask questions and build confidence in a learning environment.

The bulk of the course is practical and “hands on” so please wear clothing that is comfortable and appropriate. Also, participants might wish to bring a notebook and pen. You will definitely need to bring an open mind, a willingness to engage and a sense of humour.

Learning Outcomes

Successful candidates will obtain an Emergency First Aider qualification which lasts for 3 years.

The key learning outcomes for attendees are:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a First Aider
  • Able to assess an incident or emergency
  • Able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • Seizures
  • Recovery position

Who should attend?

It is suitable for anyone in a workplace or organisation where a First Aider is required.

Anyone with any health or physical concerns about their ability to complete the practical aspects of the course should contact us and we will contact the Trainer – we’ll find a way!

Trainer: Caroline Meagher
