About this Event
Join the Embry Hills – Presidential Parkway & Surrounding Communities Placemaking Strategy team for a fun evening of placemaking, art, and optional pickleball play at ITP Training Academy!
Community members are invited to express their perspectives on the area’s current and future identity by contributing to a mural installation for the study area while mingling with neighbors in a fun, casual environment.
What to Expect
· Overview Presentation: Learn about planning effort progress via a short overview presentation by the project team.
· Art-based Visioning: Help co-create public art with our resident artist! Community members will create tiles for a community mosaic, reflecting aspirations for area.
· Design & Development Conversations: Learn about the latest transformative development plans from planners and designers and give feedback.
· Tell us Your Why: Share what you love about your neighborhood and why this strategy matters. We'll capture your testimonials via video, audio recording, or written comment cards.
· Mingle with Your Neighbors: Whether you're trying your hand at pickleball or grabbing food in the restaurant, take this opportunity to get to know your fellow community members.
*Note about Pickleball: Open Play Hours on the Pickleball Courts will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Bring a paddle if you have one – we will also have extra paddles to share!
Project Background
The Embry Hills-Presidential Parkway & Surrounding Communities Placemaking Strategy is a study sponsored by DeKalb County seeking to strengthen this area’s unique identity through public art and culture. A placemaking strategy guides the development of a place by creating tools and policies to support the vision and goals of the community.
