Kintsugi is the 14th-century Japanese art of mending broken vessels with lacquer and gold, embracing imperfections rather than concealing them. This practice transforms fractures into celebrated features, making a kintsugi-repaired bowl more valuable than one that was never broken.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will break and mend a hand-thrown tea bowl, learning traditional kintsugi techniques along with the history and philosophy behind this beautiful art form.
Workshop includes:
✔️ A hand-thrown tea bowl
✔️ All necessary materials and tools
✔️ Expert instruction and guidance
Instructor:
Kurt Caddy is a visual artist from Walnut Grove, MO, specializing in abstract painting and sculpture. As a trained kintsugi artist and experienced workshop leader, he is passionate about creativity and helping others grow in their artistic journey."
