About this Event
Gathering once a month for 7 months, we will work our way from the ground up to explore the process of our embodiment through the lens of classical hatha yoga.
With an inward gaze we will use asana, meditation, visualization, sound vibration, mantra chanting, and self-inquiry to activate each of the chakras and awaken or enhance the qualities that reside in our physical and subtle bodies in order to be the change we wish to see in the world.
April 22nd: Root ~ Muladhara
We begin with the root, our earthly foundation at the muladhara chakra, to firmly ground ourselves in our bodies, and in the here and now.
May 27th: Sacral ~ Svadhistana
At the second chakra, the 'indwelling place' of our soft bellies, we will compassionately explore this place of vulnerable emotions and wild creative life force energy.
June 24th: Navel ~ Manipura
For this third class in the series we will use the lens of one of the core myths of Hindu mythology to explore the radiant city of jewels at the navel rather than the more Western approach of seating the manipura at the solar plexus region. Bring your curiosities!
July 22nd: Heart ~ Anahata
One of the most important centers in every spiritual tradition, the gateway of the heart leads even deeper into our innermost spiritual dimension. How can we listen even more deeply to the 'unstruck sound' of the heart?
August 26th: Throat ~ Vishuddha
The fifth chakra asks us to purify our communication to the most authentic expression of our truth. This class will bring special attention to the mystical association of each of the Sanskrit vowel sounds to one of the petals of the lotus flower at this powerful center.
September 23rd: Third Eye ~ Ajna
Often associated with psychic vision and intuition, we will explore this mysterious center of inner knowing. How do we live from an embodied understanding of non-dual wisdom?
October 28th: Crown ~ Sahasrara
At the completion of our journey, we experience a direct connection to Source. From the viewpoint of classical hatha yoga, this meeting signifies the reunion of Kundalini Shakti with her beloved Lord Siva. How can we infuse the bliss of their union into our everyday lives in present-day times?
