About this Event
Join us at The Peale as exhibiting artist LeRease Clark explores the ideas, materials, and lived experiences behind Embers Held.
Clark will speak about working with charcoal as a material shaped by fire and restraint, and how touch, pressure, and pause allow images to surface over time. Drawing from personal experience, ancestral memory, and spiritual insight, the conversation will reflect on staying with states that resist closure - bodies that carry history, darkness that remains charged, and intimacy that does not require exposure.
This talk offers a depper look into Clark's practice, their role as an exhhibition installer at The Peale, and the philosophy of tending rather than forcing - allowing each work to remain an ember, sustained through attention and care.
