Workshop investigating the role of festivals and events in production of positive equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) outcomes.
About this Event

FestivalsConnect is a Spirit of 2012-funded research project which seeks to investigate the role of festivals and events, sporting and cultural, in producing positive equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) outcomes. As part of the project, researchers from the Centre for Culture, Sport and Events (CCSE), University of the West of Scotland have investigated macro (governmental, arms-length organisations) level commitments to EDI and explored two case study events, Glasgow Mela and the UCI Cycling World Championships to better understand how EDI considerations can be embedded in the planning and delivery of festivals and events. In this co-creation workshop we now want to i) share insights from our initial research enquiries and ii) learn from the experiences of policy makers, festival and event organisers, of good (and bad) practices. Insights garnered from the co-creation workshop will inform the production of a Playbook that can be used to guide those planning and delivering festivals and events, of different scale, size and genre, in how to ensure EDI is embedded in their activity.
