About this Event

Join us for the Embedded Seeds of Hope workshop at Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture!

This in-person event will take place on Thursday, October 17, 2024, starting at 3:00 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time).

We will explore ideas of change, growth and place through handbuilding with clay.

Clay seed packets, with its malleable nature, serve as a perfect metaphor for migration. We will mold and shape the clay to represent the journey of a life, carrying the potential for growth and transformation.

In the workshop portion of our event, you will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with clay. We will begin by learning the fundamental technique of wedging clay, which involves kneading and preparing the clay for shaping. This process symbolizes the preparation and resilience required in the face of challenges.

Next, we will roll out the clay using dowels to achieve a consistent thickness.
Using a template, you will then cut out the clay seed packets. Finally, we will incorporate the seeds and gently fold the clay to mimic actual seed packets, encapsulating the essence of hope and possibility.

Through our clay seed packet making, we honor the journey of our lives as we are moved from one place to another and as we connect through the act of making.

All skill levels welcome!
