Curated by Ushmita Sahu
Dates: 20 March – 9 May 2026
Preview: 20 March 2026, from 5:00 PM onwards
Venue: Galleries 2 & 3, Ground Floor, Emami Art, Kolkata
Emami Art, Kolkata presents an intimate meditation on impermanence, memory, and the unrepeatable nature of human experience- Nothing Twice, which is a group exhibition featuring nine young women artists, offering an intimate meditation on impermanence, memory, and the unrepeatable nature of human experience. Drawing from Nobel Laureat, Wisława Szymborska’s reflection on life’s fleeting nature, the exhibition transforms ordinary, everyday moments into profound artistic expressions.
Working across painting, textiles, drawing, video, photography, and ceramics, the artists explore the poetics of daily life through materials often associated with domestic and craft practices. The exhibition foregrounds how these mediums can be reimagined as contemporary languages that speak to labour, care, and lived experience.
2. Chance Remains of Another Time
Artist: Suman Dey
Dates: 20 March – 9 May 2026
Venue: Gallery 1, Ground Floor, Emami Art, Kolkata
Emami Art, Kolkata is pleased to present Chance Remains of Another Time, an exhibition of new and recent paintings by Suman Dey, opening on March 20, 2026. This is Dey’s second solo, after his first solo presentation at the gallery in 2023.
The exhibition presents new and recent paintings by Suman Dey, marking his second solo exhibition at the gallery. The exhibition is a meditation on time, memory, and the evolving experience of urban life.
Through a new body of polyptych works, Dey assembles fragmented visual elements—images, signs, and impressions—into cohesive compositions that mirror the layered and shifting nature of city life. His works hold together notions of celebration and decay, memory and loss, reflecting the complexities of contemporary urban existence.
